Privacy Policy
Effective Date: March 2026
1. Our Commitment to Privacy
The Center for Safer AI ("the Center," "we," "us," or "our") is a non-profit organization dedicated to public education and workforce training for the safe and ethical use of artificial intelligence. We believe that data privacy is a fundamental human right. This policy outlines our rigorous standards for protecting the information of our donors, volunteers, and visitors.
2. Information We Collect
We operate on the principle of Data Minimization: we only collect the information absolutely necessary to fulfill our mission.
Voluntary Information: We collect names and email addresses only when you explicitly provide them (e.g., newsletter sign-ups or event registration).
Donation Information: All financial transactions are processed through secure, third-party industry leaders. We do not store or see your full credit card or bank account details.
Technical Data: We collect anonymous analytics (browser type, time spent on site) to ensure our educational tools are functioning correctly.
3. The "No-Sell" Donor Privacy Guarantee
To ensure the integrity of our mission and the trust of our supporters:
We will never sell, share, rent, or trade our donors' names or personal information with any other entity.
We will never send mailings to our donors on behalf of other organizations.
Donors may request that their gifts remain anonymous in any public communications or reports.
This "No-Sell" commitment applies to all data received by the Center for Safer AI, both online and offline, on any platform.
4. Universal Consumer and Donor Rights
The Center for Safer AI adopts a "Golden Standard" privacy framework that meets or exceeds the requirements of all applicable U.S. state privacy laws — including states that do not provide broad nonprofit exemptions, such as California (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado, Delaware, Illinois (PIPA/BIPA), Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York (SHIELD Act), Oregon (OCPA), and Florida (FIPA).
Regardless of your location, you have the following rights:
Right to Access: You may request a report of any data we have collected about you.
Right to Correction: You may request that we update inaccurate personal or financial information.
Right to Deletion: You may request that we purge your personal information from our active databases, subject to IRS record-keeping requirements for donation history.
Right to Portability: You may request a copy of your data in a portable, commonly used digital format.
Right to Opt-Out: You may unsubscribe from any communication at any time, without penalty.
Biometric Privacy (BIPA): We certify that we do not collect, store, or use biometric identifiers of any kind, including fingerprints or facial scans.
Global Privacy Control (GPC): Our website is configured to recognize GPC signals. If your browser sends an "Opt-Out" signal, we treat it as a legally binding request to stop all non-essential tracking.
5. AI Governance & Ethical Disclosure
In alignment with our mission, we provide the following transparency regarding artificial intelligence:
No Training on Donor Data: We do not use donor or visitor data to train Large Language Models (LLMs) or other generative AI systems.
No Automated Profiling: We do not use "AI Profiling" or automated decision-making to categorize donors or predict giving capacity.
Human Oversight: Any AI tools used for internal administrative efficiency are governed by strict data-privacy agreements and are subject to human review.
6. Security & Limitation of Liability
We employ reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your data. However, no digital transmission is 100% secure.
Notice: By using this site, you acknowledge that the Center for Safer AI and its Board of Directors shall not be held liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from unauthorized third-party access, except in cases of proven gross negligence.
7. Pending 501(c)(3) Status and Tax Deductibility
The Center for Safer AI is pending Illinois Not-for-Profit Corporation with an application for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status pending with the IRS. Please note that donations made prior to the issuance of the IRS Determination Letter are not guaranteed to be tax-deductible. Donors will be notified promptly upon the formal granting of tax-exempt status, at which point contributions will generally be deductible to the extent permitted by law.
